Where Do I Even Begin?

For something as universal as death, it’s striking how little guidance exists on preparing for it. Most of us are left guessing — when to start, what to do, how much is “enough.” The result is paralysis. We put it off, not because we don’t care, but because it feels overwhelming.

But beginning doesn’t mean doing everything at once. It just means allowing yourself to care about what comes next.

Start with a question, not a checklist: What matters to me? Maybe it’s a letter you’ve always meant to write. Maybe it’s choosing how you’d like to be remembered. Or maybe it’s simply knowing your family won’t have to wonder what you would have wanted.

The Good Death Playbook exists to meet you in that moment of “not knowing.” It doesn’t demand urgency or offer sterile legalese. It offers a structure — modular, thoughtful, and warm — to help you take that first step at your own pace.

There’s no pressure to complete it all. There’s only the quiet assurance that beginning, however small, is an act of courage. And that clarity is a gift — for yourself, and for those you love.
